Kenyan agency plans big cold chain facility in East Africa

A leading Kenyan warehouse and logistics service provider Cold Solutions, says it’ll make investments USD 70 million to assemble the biggest chilly chain facility in East Africa to deal with challenges that face transportation of perishable items.
Cold Solution’s 15,000 sqm flagship facility in Tatu City Special Economic Zone in Nairobi will be the largest, most advanced and environment friendly in the region. The cold chain facility is flexibly designed to cater for numerous temperature ranges from +26 to -40 C and multiple product ranges, from recent fruit and greens, to prescribed drugs and vaccines, meats and poultry, and frozen meals.
Cold Solutions Kenya is a portfolio firm of ARCH Cold Chain Solutions East Africa Fund, a personal equity fund suggested by ARCH Emerging Markets Partners Limited (ARCH).
“Cold Solutions’ one-stop-shops are designed to permit companies to keep track of products in real-time and facilitate transportation across East Africa by way of temperature-controlled vehicles, both within the inside metropolis or to long-haul locations,” said Jared Irving, Managing Director, ARCH.
